MEGATUFF FR Pipe is a robust, fire resistant HDPE pipe system for application in underground mines where fire safety is a concern.

Manufactured from heat resistant materials and a polymer compound coating, MEGATUFF FR Pipe significantly reduces the spread of flame in a fire. As a result of excellent intumescent properties, carbonaceous char forms on the product after being exposed to flames which effectively protects the pipe and its contents from ignition and contributes to the reflection of heat.

Marley Pipe Systems’ extensive offering for the mining industry has positioned us as one of the leading HDPE pipe suppliers in Africa.

Extensive Test Programme

flame-retardant-hdpe-pipe-suppliers-gautengThe MEGATUFF FR Pipe system has undergone extensive tests to ensure its safety for use in a multitude of applications where fire hazards are a concern.

These tests include:
  • Test to prove the compound is non-permeable in underground applications
  • Test to prove robustness in extreme conditions
  • Weld-ability test
  • UV protection for the compound for 6-8 months
  • Fire tunnel test
  • UL 214 test
  • UL 94 tests
  • UL test

  • Bends of various radii
  • Tees
  • End Caps
  • Adaptors
  • Y Pieces
  • Junctions
  • Manifolds

Features & Benefits of MEGATUFF Vent Pipe

Ease of Installation

HDPE is light in weight, making it easy to transport and handle on site, and reducing the need for heavy lifting equipment. In addition, the ease and low frequency of jointing means that the MEGATUFF Vent Pipe System can be easily dismantled for reuse.

Improved Blast Resistance

The MEGATUFF Vent Pipe System is designed to provide improved blast resistance capacity in order to enhance worker safety in the event of an emergency.

Ease of Suspension

The flexibility and light weight of the MEGATUFF Vent Pipe System mean that pipes can be easily suspended without the need for additional support.

Flush Fittings

The MEGATUFF Vent Pipe System makes use of flush fittings which are completely concealed to prevent damage and movement of the pipe.

Minimal Leakages

As a result of reduced joint frequency, the possibility of leakage is greatly reduced.

Ease of Repair

Compared to other pressure pipe materials, HDPE pipe is easy to repair and maintain, and offers a an extended wear life.

HDPE Manholes

As the leading name in the manufacture and fabrication of full HDPE pipe solutions, Marley offers custom fabricated HDPE manholes for a variety of applications, manufactured from a combination of high quality solid-wall and structured wall pipe.

HDPE has long been considered a reliable alternative to manholes that are produced from concrete, brick and mortar, or fibre cement owing to its light weight, ease-of-installation, and resistance to corrosion and abrasion as well as a wide range of chemicals that would otherwise reduce the lifespan of traditional materials. As a result, Marley HDPE manholes are resistant to root ingress, preventing contamination to surrounding groundwater and providing a watertight structure that delivers an extended life expectancy.

Marley’s HDPE manholes are prefabricated, which eliminates the risk of deformation in the structure, however, the shaft configuration of the manhole can be also be adapted to accommodate any application separate from the full plastics system. HDPE ladders can also be fabricated inside the manhole upon request. Standard covers and frames are also available.

Marley HDPE manholes and fabricated fittings meet all of the testing and manufacturing requirements of each standard, guaranteeing quality in materials and workmanship. Marley also specialises in the design and fabrication of floats and pontoons to make up the full solution.

Projects that have been successfully completed using Marley’s HDPE manhole solution include DPW Sites GP, Waterkloof Airforce Base, Swartkops, Drakenstein Municipality, Buffalo City (PE), eThekwini, Ekurhuleni and Fraser Alexander (export).

Sewer & Stormwater Manholes:

Marley HDPE manholes offer many features and benefits for underground gravitational and pressure systems, including the inspection, maintenance, ventilation, cleaning and flushing of drains or sewers or for the changing of flow conditions (change of direction, change of pressure, change of water flow rate).

Manholes for Telecommunications:

Marley HDPE manholes are well-suited for installation in difficult terrains where there is limited space to work in, making them ideal for telecommunications and conduit systems.
