Promoting safe, sustainable pipeline construction solutions for the upgrade, extension and development of infrastructure on dolomitic land

Studies conducted by various departments within the engineering sector in collaboration with the National Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Association of Engineering Geologists, indicate that 25% of Gauteng – the commercial mining and manufacturing centre of South Africa – is located on dolomite-based land. These areas pose a huge health and safety risk as a result of sinkholes caused by leaking pipes and the damming of water.

Bloemhof Vaal Weholite

Marley teamed up with HT Pelatona Projects in a bid to secure the health and hygiene of the Bloemhof community by preventing sewer spillage into the Vaal River.

Project Aim: To upgrade the open trench sewer line as well as relining sections

Sewage water scares have been a growing concern in the Bloemhof area owing to the insufficient sewer line which resulted in constant failures leading to raw sewage spilling out into the Bloemhof Vaal River and contaminating water supplies.

In the past, Ubuntu Plastics was not able to manufacture pipeline fittings for projects where HDPE piping was specified. They subsequently turned to Marley Pipe
Systems to supply them with Buttweld machines which would allow them to extend the range of fittings they were able to offer their customers in the HDPE market.
